Take me back

Outside of health and fitness, Alex and I absolutely enjoy vintage college t-shirts and sweatshirts. It's a hobby that we have enjoyed for the past few years.

It's something about memories from back then that excites us.

Faith In Action Thrift & Co. opened a few days ago and, we are super excited about sharing our hobby and love for vintage clothes with others.

In late July, we were able to take a week long vacation to Louisiana. We really enjoyed our visit and we were able to make new memories with family and friends.

One of the highlights of the visit was walking the University of Louisiana at Lafayette's campus with our kids.

Alex and I met at UL in 2015.

It was such a special moment to be able to experience that walk as a family.

Sometimes by going back to where it all started we are able to remember those moments when we felt like God wasn't there.

By going back, we are able to remember those moments where He made a way out of

no way.

As we were walking the campus I was able to remember those beginning times of freshman year when I thought that high school grades, accomplishments from high school, partying, drinking, bad relationships, etc.. could end up getting me where I needed to be.

By the end of sophomore year I had been through two academic suspensions and three academic probations.

In 2016, Alex gave his life to Christ.

I had seen drastic changes in his life.

He had severe anxiety and, it was all wiped away.

I was able to witness every single moment of it and, I wanted to experience that same freedom.

I gave my life to Christ shortly after.

I had a mess of a life to clean up and, there were certain classes that I needed to pass in that semester and, it was just too late.

I ended up getting suspended for the 3rd time.

As I looked at the hallways I remembered those prayers that kept me.

I remembered those old worship songs that would play in my earphones while walking the campus.

Just because I was saved did not mean that hardships would not come.

It just meant that my God was holding my hand through the trials.

I was able to handle things differently.

I was more confident in the unknown.

I took classes at the local community college and, got my Associates in December of 2016.

I not only got married in October of 2018 but, I also went back to UL.

I graduated with my Bachelors in December of 2018.

It was a complete turn around.

Seeing my brick on the sidewalk showed me that His promise was kept.

As I reflect on that time I realize that the answer that I was looking for during those hard times was

"Just Wait."

I think we forget the God that walks with us.

We forget what He is capable of and, the miracles that He can perform.

There comes a point where not even money or, even accomplishments can change your situation.

Only God can do that.

Just as He came in those times, we are believing for Him to come again.

He loves when we have nothing left.

He loves when we wait so, that He can move.

Great is thy faithfulness!

The steadfast love of the Lord never ceases; His mercies never come to an end; they are new every morning; great is your faithfulness.

Lamentations 3:22-23
