I remember when I first gave my life to Christ and how I yearned to be surrounded by believers.
I absolutely loved being in the same room as others that were not only fighting similar obstacles as me but, that were also fighting to live a life that is pleasing to the Lord.
It always gave me such a fire to keep going.
This weekend I decided to get out of my comfort zone and go to a retreat.
It was a retreat for mothers and caregivers of deaf/hard of hearing children.
Through this retreat I was finally able to be surrounded by others who were fighting the same battles as me.
I was finally surrounded by others who were having the same struggles of:
"What schools are we going to send our children to?"
"How do I overcome the stares from other people?"
"Will they need an interpreter?"
"Are we choosing Sign Language, Total Communication, or Listening and Spoken Language?"
"What resources are out there for my deaf/hard of hearing child?"
I left with not only a whole lot of resources and an amazing fact that Gabe can go to any college in the state of Texas for FREE but, also a fire to keep going and a tremendous support group of moms so that I don't have to feel alone in this.
